Clay
from the Monostriped Landscape series
Clay is a pair of minimalist textile objects – a panel and a mirror– developed within the Monostriped Landscape series. The works draw inspiration from the agricultural landscape of the Świętokrzyskie region and its local raw material: clay. Through the use of the faux chenille quilt technique and clay dyeing applied to second-hand textiles, the objects combine decorative presence with practical function, operating simultaneously as an acoustic panel and a reflective surface.
Natural clay pigments give the fibers a distinctive, evolving character, allowing the material to subtly change over time. The dyeing process requires relatively low energy and water consumption, and the use of recycled textiles significantly reduces the carbon footprint of the objects. In this way, Clay merges material experimentation with sustainable design principles, emphasizing tactility, locality, and longevity.
The works were presented in the group exhibition Glina Świętokrzyska at the Institute of Design in Kielce (19 December 2024–18 May 2025), and later at PPNT Gdynia during Gdynia Design Days (24–29 June 2025).
